Local Walking Trails & Waterfalls
Te Araroa and other walking trails adjacent to Pagoda Lodge lead to the historic Stone Store, Hongi Hika Reserve and Pa Site and three waterfalls including Rainbow Falls, Wairoa Stream Waterfall and Charlie's Rock Waterfall. (Link) www.teararoa.org.nz
The Hongi Hika Reserve is an 8 minute walk via public walking trail next to Lodge. Stone Store and Honey Cafe 10 minute walk from Lodge.
Restaurants
Two good restaurants are within walking-distance and many others, as well as local markets, are just a short drive away. Kerikeri has some very good restaurants and cafes offering a wide variety of food. We are happy to offer recommendations.
Hongi Hika’s Pa Site and Northland's famous Heritage Basin
The Hongi Hika Recreation Reserve and Pa Site is opposite our grounds, and can be viewed from the main deck. A short walk away using the public walking trail that begins adjacent to the lodge, you can explore:
The Pa-site of the famous Warrior Chief, Hongi Hika (8 minute walk)
The Stone Store Basin (oldest stone building in New Zealand) (10 minute walk)
